It also makes it simple to upgrade to a bigger or smaller fridge by the addition of a FlexZone module.
The sleek design of the fridge can be a perfect match for any kitchen design. The stainless steel finish is sleek and durable. Plus, it comes with anti-fingerprint coating to keep the exterior of the appliance looking new. The fridge also has an external water and ice dispensers for additional convenience.

This Samsung FlexZone side-by-side refrigerator is a good option for families that would like the convenience of having a freezer and fridge in one. It's smaller than high-end French door models, but it offers a lot of useful features and is a great alternative for those who have limited space in their kitchens.
The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also a very energy efficient fridge due to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates temperatures in the fridge so that it doesn't fluctuate a lot and keeps food fresher longer. Its energy efficiency has earned it an ENERGY STAR certification.
SmartThings
SmartThings isn't quite the same platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are, but it does have numerous smart devices that you can add. It's also integrated into Samsung smartphones, tablets and TVs - and some refrigerators. That may be enough to warrant it for some, particularly when you own multiple Samsung products.
The SmartThings app is a bit polished and well rounded and comes with a 'if x then y' automation section that works surprisingly well. It is possible to set up things such as an alarm that goes off when water sensors detect a flooding, or turning on the light when your phone determines you are at home. It could even control your refrigerator, if you connect it to a smart outlet, although we've seen mixed results with this.
SmartThings requires a hub, which isn't cheap. Samsung offers a variety of options, including the SmartThings Station that you can connect to an existing router and use it as an nightlight. There's also a cheaper SmartThings Hub Dongle that can support Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread, with Thread support in the near future.
Once you've connected your smart fridge to your smartphone and hub, it's extremely simple to use. The SmartThings app lets you manage your fridge from any location, with notifications sent to your smartphone whenever it's closed or opened. You can set up schedules as well as set the temperature and even create reminders.
SmartThings is an early member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is working to make major home appliances from a range of manufacturers interoperable. In the future you can control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV from the same application.

The touchscreen also allows you to manage your food items and recipes, with the option to add ingredients directly from a recipe app and see what's in your fridge using internal cameras. You can also create a shopping list on the go and monitor food items to determine when they'll expire. You can also use an app for recipes to read the recipe while cooking.
Samsung has spent an entire year reworking the Family Hub fridges based on feedback from customers. One key change is that you can now set different profiles for every family member so that they can tailor the information and apps they have access to. It's not as good as Alexa integration in your fridge but it is an improvement over the model of last year.
Family Hub is not only a platform for managing entertainment and food but also controls Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can be used to control Matter-compatible devices such as lights and plugs as well as locks.
Samsung's fridge has been around for a while and, even though it offers a fair bit of features, the touchscreens aren't exactly an essential feature for the majority of people. They're more fun, and somewhat frivolous extras than anything else.
It could change when more software updates are released, but for now these models are ideally suited to those who want the most complete connected fridge possible. If you're not among those, you could opt for a less expensive model without the Family Hub to save some cash. It could be worth it for you when you have a number of smart home devices that need to be controlled by the same device, or if you just like the idea of a fridge with a giant touchscreen.
